A Farewell to Arms, by Earnest Hemingway, is a great novel about the pains of life including the great sorrow that comes with loosing those you love. Frederic Henry, the protagonist of the story, is an American Lieutenant in the Italian Army during the First World War. This fact is significant in learning why this book was written because Earnest Hemingway, an American, actually drove ambulances for the Italian Army during the war. showed last 85 words of 1842 total especially skillful the way in which this book was able to weave history and fiction into one great fabric. Having read this book one can easily see why it has been labeled as one of the greatest works of 20th century literature. For these reasons if I were to rate this book I would give it an eight on a scale of one to ten. Earnest Hemingway did a great job in writing this book and everyone should read it if they get a chance.
