Alcoholism is an illness involving the great deal of consumption of alcoholic beverages, including soft liquors such as beer and hard liquors such as vodka. Alcohol can plays a very disturbing and devastating role in one’s life, affecting the person physically, emotionally, and biologically, and also affecting the family and friends. When alcohol is consistently present in everyday life, it affects the way people handle their responsibilities as well as how they handle themselves. Society must take an active role in curbing this disease by recognising it as such. Help must be provided to alcoholics so that they may curb their alcohol dependence, before they and their families are destroyed by a seemingly innocent glass of wine.
