Anaphylaxis
"Anaphylaxis and Anaphylactoid Reactions" Today, it is accepted by doctors that anaphylaxis is "a life threatening rapid allergic reaction". Anaphylaxis has serious consequences, but is readily treatable. Within this paper I will expound what anaphylaxis is, what causes it, it's effects on the body, and it's treatment. Anaphylaxis is caused by antibodies known as "Immunoglobulin E" or "IgE", while Anaphylactoid reactions have the same results, but are caused usually as a result of X-ray injections,
produce rashes, faintness, swelling, asthmatic symptoms, vomiting, diarrhoe, a tingling in the lips, and death. Since consequences of the two are the same, treatment is also the same. Anaphylaxis is caused by many things. Foods especially nuts are the most common cause, while some fruits and fish are less common. Drugs which may cause it include penicillins, anesthetics, some IV fluids, beta-blockers, and NSAIDs. Latex reactions usually affect persons who have occupational contact with it.
