The Meech Lake Accord was named after the resort in Quebec where the conference was held. For the purpose of this paper, I will be looking at what the demands were, who supported and who opposed them as well as my own opinion about the Meech lake accord.
First of all, it is important to mention that the constitution in 1982 allowed Canada to make changes to the governing framework of the nation. The terms however, did not meet the needs of all Canadians. Some were showed first 85 words of 1058 total

showed last 85 words of 1058 total recognised its sovereignty in most jurisdictions. The Quebec government passed legislation calling for a referendum either on sovereignty or an offer of constitutional renewal from the rest of Canada.
As for my own opinion, I agree with Sir John A. Macdonald who, in 1861, said that "whatever you do, adhere to the Union. We are a great country and shall become one of the greatest in the universe if we preserve it; we shall sink into insignificance and adversity if we suffer it to be broken."
