During the Presidency of Kennedy the US acquired information that the Soviets were supplying Castro with nuclear weapons. The US began to weigh their options of fighting and possibly creating a nuclear war if they did not succeed and if they did succeed it would only be temporary.
The Cuban Missile Crisis defined the Cold War. It had brought the world to a nuclear war. The Soviets and the US began to realize their mistrust for each other had almost become a holocaust.
