When no prince arrived, Ankhesenamen named her grandfather Ay co-regent (see note 5), and it is Ay whom we see performing t he "opening of the mouth" ceremony (see note 6) on the mummy of Tutankhamen in a painting in Tutankhamen's burial chamber.
