Elephants

I have recently seen The Elephant Kingdom Imax movie. Since then I have had a very strong interest in elephants; mainly African ones. African elephants are the biggest specie of elephants. They have two finger like projections on the end of their trunk, the they use in battle. African elephants are often known for their large ears, about 5 feet long each. …and roots. Elephants bones lack marrow cavities; they are filled instead with a spongy material through which marrow is distributed. Their grinding teeth are large and high, and usually four teeth( excluding tusks), one on each side of the upper and lower jaws, are present in the mouth at one time. Elephants eat only plant material, as much as 230 kg. Per day. One or two young are born after a period of about 21 to 22months.
