Through the mathematics logbook, the ways in which prior mathematical understanding and knowledge was evident in the different levels of ability from each student. Through understanding their learning development teachers are able to provide a rich environment for learning mathematics along with the necessary direction to help children recognise relationships, make connections, talk about their mathematical understanding and create meaningful learning which is the best way to ensure retention.
