These critics believe his writing is insulting to the black readers of his books and deserves no place on today's bookshelves. Many others believe the previous idea is falsely believed. At several points in the novel, Jim's character is described to the reader as stupid and childlike, and some people
reason to banned this book. Mark Twain was able to show how a somewhat normal white child could change his attitude about the African-American race. The novel also showed how a person from normal society could befriend a slave by his characteristic, and not by the color of his skin. For that reason and many more, that is why The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain should be taught in the high school curriculum.
