When Simon and the Lord of the flies start speaking to each other during one of Simon’s epileptic seizures the famous meeting between Jesus and the Devil in the desert is recreated in the novel. Simon was mocked and ridiculed for his behavior by the Lord of the Flies, but Simon tried to just keep his cool by telling himself that it was just a “Pig’s head on a stick.”(143)
