…and The Great Gatsby . Are tragic love stories with ending that doesn't end happily ever after. In the two novels, the two main characters want to acquire love, which is their dream. Both these men fall in love with different women and then at the end, they end up losing them. These two men, although from completely different societies, share the same sorrow of an unfulfilled romantic dream. They were both victims of society's modalities.
