Margarine Case Report
The subsequent response is a follow-up to the discussion of the Becel case study. The
purpose of this case study was to analyse the current position of Becel, and to make inferences as
to how market share growth could be increased. Different strategies were developed, and
evaluated using criterion for each, which ultimately determined the best option. These options
were discussed in class and compared among students in a role playing situation with the
teaching assistant.

tell just from the case information.
In conclusion, I believe that my strategy is something that could be implemented with the
right resources, but it is not very feasible for Becel. My option involved heavy investment, and
was a little riskier because of the uncertainty of butter being introduced under the Becel name. I
feel that this case study was a good assignment to get students to apply real-life decision making
in the classroom.
