African-Americans have been regarded as the lower caste in society by their white counterparts since they were brought to America via slave ships. African-Americans have been also been ostracized and socially persecuted by their white counterparts in the past (Jim Crow Laws) and even today. …Africa-Americans, to have a voice in a world dominated by Whites. Sports allows lower castes in society a chance to live the American dream, while at the same time, giving them exposure via the media to help their particular group. How will the relationship between race, sports, and society be in the future? Only time can tell. As long as minorities are leading sports figures in society, every caste in society will have a voice.
