I believe Shell bears much responsibility for the problems in the Ogoni region. One reason is the fact that Shell has received nearly billion worth of oil from the Ogoni land but has not helped the Ogoni people by providing them with jobs or money to develop their lands. I believe this external body should not be actively reforming the corporation but should act as more of an audit and periodically perform reviews on the company (every 3, 6, or 12 months).
Overall, it is important that Shell is punished for what they caused and it is important that they learn from their mistake by becoming more of a socially responsible multinational corporation.
