Suicides among young people nationwide have increased dramatically in recent years. Suicide is the sixth leading cause of death for five to fourteen year olds, and the third leading cause of death for fifteen to twenty four year olds. The signs or signals that the teenager may give can be showing signs of hopelessness, changes in weight, changes in sleep behavior, making negative opinions about theories, talking or writing about suicide, giving away possessions, or sudden interest in life insurance or making a will. Every day fourteen young people commit suicide that is approximately one in every one-hundred minutes, teenage suicide is growing in our society.
