The United States Constitution The Declaration of Independence called for a democratic government and the first result was the Articles of Confederation. The Articles of Confederation was too weak to be an effective form of government. It did however, pave the way to the U.S. Constitution which was a much stronger form of government. The writers of the Constitution were wealthy landowners true, but they did not create an aristocratic government. They set out to save a foundling country against economic ruin. What they created may not have been the best for all the citizens of the United States, but compromise and necessity had them create the best form of government possible.
