The Romance of Huck and Editha

When analyzing the novels Editha by W.D. Howells and The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain, one must be able to compare and contrast while not giving prejudice over specific content. Overall, Editha exposed a quality of negativity by glorifying war and manipulating her beloved into an act that he was wholeheartedly against. …ader sees little more than selfless events from the title persona. Little can be said for the romantic views of Editha. She strove to better herself through the misfortune of others. In Huckleberry Finn, however, we see a young boy going to extremes to not only find his dreams of freedom on the Mississippi, but also help all others to find their own dreams as well. May we all be as big as little Huck.
