My girlfriend, Marianne and I live in Urbana, Illinois. For several years I worked in a pet store, but only dabbled with fish breeding. We started breeding Bettas in June of 1994. What started as a pastime, has now become a full blown MANIA! To the question, "How hard is it to breed Bettas?": We seem to think that the most difficult parts are, carefully watching the breeding couple from mating until the eggs hatch (usually
yellow, and turquoise. We have some now that show a double fin trait, but the tail is not split all the way to the body. We spend approx. 45-60 min. per day feeding and about 5 hours each week changing water. We will be modifying or system soon to ease the burden of mass quantities of jars (we have 35 on each shelf). I'll try to let you know how this works out. SO FAR, SO GOOD!!!
