…The story is an ambivalent creation. The reader can’t ignore the associations that come up through reading the story- remembering especially Russia in Stalin’s period of time (1927-1953), and Germany between 1933-1945, in Hitler’s days. “1984” was written by Orwell at 1952, with obvious intentions to refer to these two countries.
