“A plane has just struck the north tower of World Trade Center” probably were the first words people heard as they tuned in to the live coverage of attacks on America. The day was 11th of the September 2001 when attacks on America left people thinking whether the world was ending. As this event took place National Center for Victims of Crime mobilized its resources to respond to the needs of the victims of the attacks …

…attacks. Their services to individual victims ranged from providing supportive counseling, practical assistance, and information about what they are experiencing, to referrals to local social service organizations. National Center for Victims of Crime efforts separated into three major categories: educating the public, supporting local victim service providers, and counseling individual victims. These efforts helped affected ones to get comfort and assurance, allowed local providers to help the helpless, and other individual cope with the situation.
