The sixteenth century was a time of exploration and expansion. Sparked by the Renaissance, the people of Europe began to question and investigate. The peoples’ curiosity and desire for finer goods from Asia led them to take to the high seas in search of an easier path to the Orient. …not a change for the good, but rather their demise. In conclusion, the impact that the Europeans had on the New World was in all respects negative. It is a bad thing that the Europeans prevailed over the sacred cultures of the Native Americans. While the Americas gave prosperity to the Old World, they, in turn, were rewarded with death and ruins. When Columbus made that fateful landing upon the Bahamas he extinguished a culture.
