As the story progresses Jack begins to appreciate the value of a close family, which he lacked all his life. In conclusion Don Bailey’s: a few notes for Orpheus was written to show that spending time with family has the highest priority in life. In the story Jack is ignoring his young daughter in the same way his father neglected him. It required something as extreme as Jack’s father dying to unite this family.
