A Separate Peace

In John Knowle’s A Seperate Peace, the main characters, Gene and Finny have a unique friendship that transforms throughout chapter four. According to Webter’s dictionary the word “friendly” means not hostile; amicable. One could assume that a friend would contain these characteristics of a friend. Transformation is a main theme in the book and it is very relevant throughout the entire book. There is no way to avoid change. Sometimes change happens for the better, sometimes for the worse. It is up to the reader to decide whether the changes in A Separate Peace’’ were for the better or for the worse.
