A prose Analysis of “A Rose for Emily” by William Faulkkner This short story is set in a fictional country in Mississippi and the narrator is an unnamed towns man. The story begins after the death of the main character Emily Grierson. In this story we are the patriarchy north and south and of the sexual conflict within it. In this story the author tells us of a woman victimized and betrayed by the society
as a bride, while later she is seen dressed in blacked as a widow. Faulkner portrays Emily as a feminist who fights back. Instead of killing herself as would be expected by a lady jilted, she would rather to commit murder. In “ A rose for Emily” the protagonist is Miss Emily and the antagonists are the town folks.
