A turn of the Screw

In determining the meaning of the last chapter and the struggle between Peter Quint, the Governess, and her pupil Miles, one must stop and think about what it is that they are trying to do battle with. Throughout the story, there seems to be clear evidence that there is some sort of evil power that is trying to transform the children, Miles and Flora, into tools of evil for Peter Quint and Miss Jessil. …was possessed by the spirt of Quint at this time. The Governess taunts the ghost by saying, “but he is lost to you forever!” The thought of not having the boy for his evil ways thus made him again possess the boy and take his life.
