Those in an ethnic identity search are exploring the meaning of their ethnicity and those with an achieved ethnic identify have a clear sense of their ethnicity and emotionally identify with their ethnic group. These stages correlate with ego identity statuses. Some bicultural adolescents see themselves as equally members of their ethnic group and the dominant culture for others however one identity or the other predominates according to the situation.
