Advances in Research on Instruction After reading this article I decided that I would keep this and refer to it every time I felt that I was not reaching my students. I found it to be very helpful. I think that as we get older, we forget how children learn. We might even forget how we ourselves learn material. Everything comes so natural to us and we forget that we go through many different processes
in the article. Consequently, I did not find it surprising that the teachers who had received instructional training had a higher student achievement gain than the teachers who taught as they normally had. However, this was a little frightening to find that the teachers who taught the “normal” way did not have high achievement rates. I think that this leads to the conclusion that teachers should be lifelong learners and always assess their teaching styles.
