Affirmative Action

Affirmative Action I believe that affirmative action should not be allowed or encouraged to remedy past discrimination. I feel that the affirmative action legislation shows favoritism toward minorities, which is not based on their own abilities, but by their nationality or race. I also feel that affirmative action is no longer needs to be considered in employment, education, and contracting decisions. Women and minority groups today have the same abilities and talents as white men …

…very purpose for which it was created. In conclusion, I think that it is time for new generations to examine new ideas. Affirmative action was a noble invention that served its purpose, but it is no longer needed. I agree with president Clinton when he says, “mend it, but don’t end it.” I believe that new forms of legislation can improve and update the old affirmative action clause, without damaging the purpose of it.
