Alice Munro
In her short stories, “Rich as Stink” and “Royal Beatings”, author Alice Munro uses a limited omniscient point of view. These stories are very much alike in all aspects of point of view, as this paper will discuss. A limited omniscient point of view is one which uses the third person while talking about all its characters. However, it has only a limited point of view. That is to say that the reader only has
two particular stories the same vantage point is used and therefore the stories are told from the same point of view, the point of view of a young girl retelling her past through a series of retrospective events. The fact that we know only what the girls are thinking, or their opinions on things, and that they are never referred to in the first person proves that the story is told through limited omniscient eyes.
