Amedeo Modigliani - a Jewish French Artist

Amedeo Modigliani was an Italian painter and sculptor. He is among the most important of the 20th century. His life is one of the greatest tragedies in art. He was born on July 12, 1884 to a Sephardic Jewish family in Livorno (Leghorn), Italy. He was raised in a Jewish ghetto. His father was a businessman and his brother, Vittorio Emanuele Modigliani, was in active Socialist leader. He became ill in January 1920 and died ten days later …

For example, the painting Modigliani drew about the Jewish married couple. His whole life can be seen somehow through his paintings. The reason Modigliani’s paintings have so many sinuous lines is partially because of his drunkenness. For the 35 complex years of which Amedeo Modigliani lived, he accomplished a great amount.
