Americans view the baseball labor dispute in which players consider themselves victims and realize that this is a fabricated role. Seeing that these multimillionaire players think they are victims, Americans feel subconsciously that they won’t be “true Americans” unless they are victims as well. Nothing is more American than our national pastime, except maybe being a victim.
