An American sense of identity and unity by the revoulution

Much was going on around the colonies throughout the eve of the Revolution. The extent to which the colonists had developed a sense of an American identity was strong, however, their unity was weak. As one can see, an American identity and a feeling of unity among the colonies were two very separate things. The colonists’ American identity was especially powerful but a strong sense of unity was nonexistent.
