Analysis of YA Literature - Humor Genre.
Analytical Paper #3 - HOLES, BY Louis Sachar Kathy Bowman September 30, 2003 Humor is essential to life. Hopefully, we all experience a dose of it on a regular basis. Watching a funny television program; listening to a funny joke; enjoying life and looking at the bright side. Humor defines our character. Louis Sachar's novel, HOLES, portrays humor in a way that keeps the reader's interest by touches of mystery as well as adventure. HOLES begins with the
money. Stanley was able to buy a home for his family and hire private investigators for Zero to find his mother. The last scene has a tendency to make the reader believe that Clyde Livingston's wife was indeed Zero's mother. In comparison to the other books we have read thus far this semester, this one was the most interesting. There was more of a plot line, and the dual stories intertwining kept the reader's interest.
