Ancient Greece

Ancient Greece was the birthplace of Western civilization about 3rd millennium to the 1st century. They were known for their philosophy, architecture, drama, government, and science. Geographically it indicates the heartland of Greek communities on the north coast and nearby islands of the Mediterranean Sea. Culturally, though it indicates how the ancient Greeks spoke. …friends in the agora, or at symposiums. Greek woman weren't allowed to have much entertainment outside their home, except for religious festivals. Children played with dolls, balls, and other toys.         At the festivals, athletes competed in events such as wrestling, boxing, foot and chariot racing, javelin throwing and jumping. They also included plays and performances. The most famous of these festivals were the Olympic Games. They were held every four years in honor of Zeus.
