…second. Andrea was therefore sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole in 40 years. I would have to agree with the verdict according to the definition of insanity that Texas uses. I do believe that Andrea Yates knew that what she was doing was legally and morally wrong. It is very possible that Andrea truly believed she was saving her children from Satan but she knew that what she was doing was wrong.
