Apperance vs Reality

Has one ever experienced something and it appeared to be one way, but in reality it was something totally different? The stories, “The False Gems”, Tartuffe, and “How Much Land Does a Man Need?” all have characters that appear to be good, but turn out to be bad. His servant digs him a grave. “Six feet from his head to his heels was all he needed.” (678) In all the stories someone appears to be different than whom they really are. In these cases you can see the difference between appearance and reality.
