Argos and Corinth

History and Military Argos was founded by Phoroneus; he named it after his son, Argos. It was the second largest city-state in Ancient Greece, and for centuries, the most important one. Argos was subsidiary to Mycenae until the Dorian invasion in the 12th century BC. Then Argos became the most prominent Greek city-state in the northeastern Peloponnese. …in 146 BC. It founded by Julius Caesar in 44 BC. Arts and Culture Ancient Corinth was one of the most illustrious cities of ancient times and one of the first cradles of art. Corinthians were educated in drama, public speaking, reading, writing, math, poetry, and the flute. The Corinthian polis is famous for it’s bronze statues, pottery, and vase painters.
