Argument for an Aphorism

Samuel Hazo once quoted the aphorism, “Expect everything, and anything seems nothing. Expect nothing, and anything seems everything.” The truth of this statement can best be seen in the following deductive argument. People awake each day with expectations. Expectations set a limit to happiness. Therefore, people awake each day setting a limit to their happiness. This can also be realized in the following story titled The Optimist. …one of the children was an optimist and the other a pessimist, it can be still be used to understand the original aphorism. The pessimist expected the computer to be a color he desired, a sturdier calculator, a game he would enjoy, and a bigger toy car. When he didn’t get those things he was disappointed and, therefore, unhappy. The optimist, however, didn’t expect anything and consequently was happy with what he received.
