At Risk Students
Introduction: According to Teaching Mainstreamed, Diverse and At-Risk Students, Many students suffer from failure from one time to another. Many students start their school year feeling energized, but towards the ending, all of the energy dies away. Every September, three million 6-year-olds enter our nation’s first grades. Most enter confident of doing well in school, highly motivated, and eager to learn. Just nine months later, many of these bright, enthusiastic youngsters have learned a
upperclassmen in high school. The program is called TRIO-Academic Support Program. In University of Illinois at Chicago, TRIO is designed for students who parents did not attend college. Students have the opportunity to attend college/university during the school year and live on campus during the summer. In this summer program, students take classes in basic skills in reading, writing, mathematics, and studying. The enrichment is the area in tutoring and counseling (Vaughn, Bos Schumm 320).
