This story represents the effects of a parent child relationship and how it impacts the child even after the death of his parent. Baldwin notices how his father feels and tries not to inherit these feelings from his father. This turns out to be impossible for Baldwin because of all the hate in the world. This story also demonstrates the effect of reverse prejudice and the effects on everyone involved.
