Battle of the Sexes: who is in the lead

While I was driving in the car a few months ago, my mother and I were talking about the various stereotypes of students, which lead into a discussion of gender inequity. Who is better—males or females? That is something that many people are still arguing throughout the world today. My mother stated that “various studies have shown that men are, and always have been, better than women.” Is this really true? My hypothesis is …

…used here to examine the extent to which females and males have access to similar educational outcomes. By most of these measures, females are doing at least as well as males. Although part of the statement my mother told me was true, I was relieved to find out that my hypothesis was also true in many aspects.
