Benajmin Franklin's 13 Virtues
Living in a civilized society, there are certain rules and regulations that everyone must follow in order to succeed. Along with these rules, there are virtues that some people choose to follow in order to live a healthy, honorable life. In Benjamin Franklin’s The Autobiography, he lists thirteen virtues that he feels are most imperative to living a moral life. Even though he created this list in the 18th century, most of the virtues
relevant to the present, Franklin’s list can be changed to fit society today. These virtues are all too often dismissed as impossible and idealistic. If each person just sought to meet these goals, the world would be more pleasant and accepting. No person is perfect, and therefore could most likely never succeed at accomplishing all of these virtues. Even so, we must strive to meet these goals in order to improve ourselves as people.
