Beowulf
Beowulf is the hero of the poem. He is a Geat, the son of Ecgtheow and the nephew of Hygelac. The story begins when Beowulf hears about the troubles Grendel has been causing to the land of the Danes. Grendel is a monster that has been terrorizing the Herot, which is Hrothgar's mead hall. Hrothgar is the loved and respected king of Danes. Beofulf and his men came ashore on the land of the Danes,
to the rescue by stabbing the dragon in the throat making it possible for Beowulf to stab the dragon in its belly. As the fight ended, Beowulf had a big gash in his throat and Wiglaf had his arm burned to the crisp. Before Beowulf dies he tells Wiglaf to take over his throne and in his rememberance to build a mound on the seashore and call it Beowulf's lair. That’s how Beowulf dies.
