Bog Bodies

1. Who were the bog bodies? Bog bodies are naturally made mummies of people that date from about 8000 B.C, but most lived around 2000 years ago. Although the exact identity of the bog bodies is unknown, there are several theories on the subject. The ethno history of the bog bodies suggests that the people were Celts or Germanic. Bog bodies have been found in the bogs of Ireland, Scotland, England, the Netherlands, Germany, Denmark, and Sweden. …

The last meals found inside of the stomachs and intestines of the various bodies were not closely enough related to show importance. The stomach contents did show us the seasonality of the victim’s death. Although the exact purpose is unknown, it is clear that these people did not just fall in and there was some purpose to the placement of the bodies.
