Census Debate

Ever since 1790 when Thomas Jefferson oversaw the U.S.’s first Census it was clear that determining the exact population would be impossible. It is a tradition and a duty of the U.S. Government to hold a decennial census. This year, the 2000 Census is underway right now and the numbers won’t be turned in until sometime next year. …congress aren’t doing anything about. This is much more important an issue then some petty struggle to stay in power. Not allowing sampling for the census is against Wesberry’s principle and the foundations of this country. The Census Act is behind this injustice. That is why congress needs to pass legislation giving the Census Bureau the authority to use the most accurate procedure of determining an “Actual Enumeration” of the U.S. population.
