Ceremony
The development of Tayo in Ceremony is a long, slow, and at times, very exhausting journey. We first meet Tayo shortly after his involvement in the Second World War. Tayo is very sick and is confused about how to face his feelings of the world, often turning to alcohol to take his mind off of his problems for awhile. Tayo is finally persuaded by his grandma to go get help from an old Indian medicine
His solution had to include everything in his life and he couldn’t leave a single thing untouched. I believe that everybody has a lot to learn from Tayo and his journey but most of us are not willing to face the troubles or take the time. If we were to take the time and maybe learn from our past we might be able to change our world, no matter how slightly, for the better.
