Childhood Progression
The narrator has grown up a lot since the story where he was quite immature and young. He is now thirty years old. He still admires fishing, but he doesn’t have much time for it because he lives in the city. He is the CEO of this new printing company downtown. A couple of years after the story took place, he turned sixteen and bought a sports car. He then took another chance to
realized that school was going to get him where he needed to go and that fishing was only a boyish pastime. The narrator graduated with honors and attended Yale majoring in business administration. He graduated and soon after became the CEO of a printing company that was ran by his cousin. The narrator no longer fishes, but has the idea that once he retires that he will return to his favorite pastime as a child.
