Christianity and the Revolutionary War

The colonists of the Revolution era had three choices. They could have chosen to be patriots, people willing to fight and die for liberty. They could have been loyalists, willing to die to remain faithful to the king of England. The last option was not to make a definite choice between the two sides. If they stayed neutral and agreed with whatever side won, they would surely be safe. Those “neutrals” sat on the sidelines, …

…but reject its lifestyle. They are lukewarm. “Other people can do the work,” they say. “I am fine here watching the battle because I’m safe either way.” Those are perhaps in the most danger. In our fight for Christianity, we are truly in a struggle. However, that struggle is not against flesh and blood. No, it is against principalities and the powers of the air. We choose to fight, knowing the victory is ours.
