Conflicts of the Phoenix

There are many different types of conflicts that occur in a story. In Eudora Welty’s “A Worn Path” the main character, Phoenix Jackson, experiences many different conflicts during her journey. Phoenix Jackson encounters conflicts with nature, conflicts with other people, and conflicts with herself, both physically and mentally. …is not actually still alive. It seems Phoenix is battling with the truth because she does not want to accept that her grandson is gone. Of the many conflicts Phoenix encounters, the ones she encounters with herself seem to be the greatest. She seems to deal well with and overcome the conflicts with nature and other people, but she cannot overcome her age or physical condition, and she cannot face the truth about her grandson.
