In The Contender, Jeff Bridges plays the character of Jackson Evans, the President of the United States. The character of Kermit Newman, played surprisingly by Sam Elliot, reinforced Bridges’s character, the same way an echo does the voice, the right hand man, maintaining the unified front, doing what is necessary to get the job done.
